AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) swore in its 2026 president, Chris Lyons, at the prestigious 2025 Excellence in Leadership Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Austin in Austin, Texas. The 2026 Board of Directors and TAB’s Senior Officers were installed at the Board of Directors meeting the following day.
The office of President of the Texas Association of Builders represents both the highest honor and the greatest responsibility within the association. This role demands dedication, energy, and a passion for growth in leadership. Together, the senior officers serve as TAB’s guiding core, entrusted with upholding the association’s bylaws, policies, and mission.
The Board of Directors oversees TAB’s programs, advocacy, and educational initiatives. As leaders within the organization, directors are expected to foster relationships that strengthen the homebuilding industry, actively engage in association activities, and set the standard for member involvement.
2026 TAB SENIOR OFFICERS:
PRESIDENT: Chris Lyons, HOME by Lyons – Amarillo, Texas
As founder of HOME By Lyons, Chris Lyons leads a respected custom and semi-custom homebuilding company serving the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. A Canyon native, his passion for construction and real estate was inspired early on by his parents, Paul and Mary Lou, who have built and sold homes together since 1983. After earning a Business Administration degree from West Texas A&M University, Chris joined Lyons Realty, helping expand it into a thriving 60-agent firm across Amarillo, Canyon, and Lubbock. A committed industry leader, he has served on the West Texas A&M University Foundation Board, the West Texas Home Builders Association Board, and in multiple roles with the Texas Panhandle Builders Association and the Texas Association of Builders. His contributions were recognized with TAB’s Excellence Under 45 Award in 2019.
FIRST VICE PRESIDENT: Justin Webb, Altura Homes – Rockwall, Texas
Justin Webb is a highly experienced leader with over 25 years in the construction and real estate development industry. As founder of Altura Homes, he has developed thousands of homes, generating over $1 billion in sales. His expertise includes land acquisition, development, homebuilding, multi-family, commercial real estate, and finance. Justin holds key leadership roles in several industry organizations. He is currently serving as the Secretary/Vice-President for the Texas Association of Builders and has previously held positions as HOMEPAC Chair, Membership Chair, Area 1 Vice President, and on TAB’s Executive Board. At the Dallas Builders Association, Justin is a Life Director and has served in various leadership roles, including President of the DBA. He is also active in charitable causes, including building a mortgage-free home for a veteran through Patriot Paws and Operation Finally Home. At the National Association of Home Builders, he has served on the Board of Directors/Leadership Council since 2016 and is a member of the NAHB Builder 20 Club.
VICE PRESIDENT/SECRETARY: Sam Mezayek, Mezayek Building & Development — Tyler, Texas
A second-generation builder and developer from Tyler, Sam Mezayek brings more than 30 years of experience in single-family and multifamily construction, as well as land development. A longtime leader within the Tyler Area Builders Association, he served as its President and Builder of the Year in 1999 and continues to serve as a Past President and active board member. At the Texas Association of Builders, Sam has been a dedicated advocate for the industry, serving on the Government Relations Committee for over a decade and currently chairing that committee. He is also a HOMEPAC Trustee and has represented his region as a TAB Director. In his local community, Sam has held numerous civic leadership roles, including serving on the Tyler City Council and chairing both the Unified Development Code Council and the City’s Code Adoption Task Force.
TREASURER: Justin MacDonald, MacDonald Companies Inc – Kerrville, Texas
Justin MacDonald is the President and CEO of MacDonald Companies, a mixed-use development and construction firm with projects throughout Texas. Justin holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has been involved in the development, construction, and management of multifamily communities since the late 1990s. He started out sweeping construction sites and doing carpentry work in high school and discovered a passion for creating housing that he has pursued ever since. In addition to an MBA, Justin holds a BA in Journalism from Angelo State University and a certificate in Managerial Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin. Justin is a past president of the Texas Association of Builders and the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers. In 2020, Justin was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. He served as a Kerrville City Council member from 2012-2014, and on several other volunteer boards and committees in the Kerrville community.
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT: Brett Martin, Tilson Custom Home Builders — Houston, Texas
Brett Martin has been involved in the building industry over 25 years. The first 11 years were spent providing construction financing to builders and permanent financing to homeowners. The remainder has been with Tilson Custom Home Builders currently as Sr. Vice President of Real Estate Operations. At TAB Brett has served on multiple committees, and as chairman of the Audit Committee for 2 years and Treasure and Finance Chairman for another 5 years. He has been a member of the Executive Committee for the last 11 years and a Senior Office for the last 9 years. A native Texan, Brett was born in Pecos, Texas. His family soon thereafter moved to Lubbock, then to Houston. After high school he attended Abilene Christian University graduating with a BBA in Accounting and subsequently obtaining his CPA. He began his professional career with Arthur Young focusing on Financial, Construction and Real Estate clients.
