Sunbelt Builders Show™ & TAB Conference Canceled

AUSTIN, Texas – With recent spikes in positive coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in the state of Texas, the Texas Association of Builders’ (TAB) Senior Leadership has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Sunbelt Builders Show™ and TAB’s Committee and Board of Directors meetings that were slated for July 14-17 at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas.

The Sunbelt Builders Show™ is serious about safety and health and protecting its attendees, exhibitors, visitors and employees. Cancelling the Show allows us to lessen the potential for transmission of COVID-19 at our event and in our communities. Only through this cooperative effort can we establish and maintain the safety and health of all persons.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision for us to make but a necessary one,” said TAB President Randy Bowling. “We understand that this affects hundreds of exhibitors and builders, and for some will create financial hardship. However, our top priority remains the health and well-being of everyone and this is absolutely the right thing to do.”

The Sunbelt Builders Show™ is the most prominent residential construction industry trade show in Texas each year. Although it is built around business relationships between exhibitors and builders, many attendees focus on networking on the Show floor, at the Star Awards program, during education sessions or at the Builders’ Bash concert. The Sunbelt team looks forward to carrying over the energy created from this year’s Show to 2021.

“I want to thank our exhibitors, sponsors, vendors and especially our membership that were hopeful and optimistic that the 20th¬¬ Sunbelt Builders Show™ and TAB summer meetings would have proceeded as planned,” voiced TAB’s executive director Scott Norman. “Even though this is disappointing, we are already looking forward to hosting our 20th anniversary show next year in conjunction with TAB's 75th anniversary in Dallas.”

The Sunbelt staff will be working with registrants, Show exhibitors and sponsors directly in the coming days. We ask for your patience as we finalize the process. TAB staff will also be developing plans to carry out select Sunbelt sessions and important association business.

The residential construction industry is an essential service and will continue to lead the economy forward. The Sunbelt committee will now turn their attention to the 2021 Show on July 13-16 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

TAB also encourages each individual and jobsite to do their part in trying to slow the spread of COVID-19. Additional COVID-19 resources can be found on TAB’s website, TexasBuilders.org.
