The Texas Association of Builders inducted a pair of pacesetter members into the Texas Housing Hall of Honor on November 17, 2017. The event was held inside the J.W. Marriott Downtown hotel in Austin, Texas. Well respected Chip Dence and Michael Moore became the 22nd and 23rd members to appear on the admired Hall of Honor wall.
The Texas Association of Builders swore in its 2018 Directors and Senior Officers before handing out its 2017 “Of the Year” awards at the Excellence in Leadership Celebration on November 17.
On behalf of the building and remodeling industry in Texas, the members of the Texas Association of Builders, want to express their heartfelt sympathies to anyone affected by the tropical storm and Hurricane Harvey that hit the Texas gulf over the weekend. The professional building and remodeling community stands ready to assist our neighbors as we work to rebuild the homes and communities that have been destroyed or damaged.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Howard College-San Angelo Construction Trades Center of Excellence was held on Oct. 5, 2017. Over the past 18 months, Michael Biggerstaff, past president of the Home Builders Association of San Angelo and chairman of the Texas Builders Foundation, and the Home Builders Association of San Angelo in partnership with the Texas Builders Foundation have worked with community leaders in San Angelo to raise over $600,000 for the new center which is now fully funded. Additionally, each of the 25 students in the first class that will begin in March 2018 will receive full scholarships to the eight-month program.
Texans in 41 designated counties who suffered damage and losses from Hurricane Harvey now have until Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, to register for disaster assistance. This extension also gives survivors more time to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
