Storm Water Self-Certification Sticker Program

A partnership between the Texas Association of Builders,
Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 and
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

For more than a decade, builder members of the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) have received training and information on the storm water control regulations that apply to residential construction sites. These training initiatives, reaching more than 4,000 home builders, have been designed in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

In an ongoing effort to increase compliance with storm water regulations and acknowledge good construction site management practices, TAB builder members may now choose to complete a “Storm Water Self-Assessment Checklist” for each of their Notices of Intent (NOI).

For each fully executed checklist submitted to TAB, the builder will receive one “Storm Water Self-Certified” sticker to place at the corresponding construction site. Sites that display the sticker will be a lower priority for routine inspections by the EPA and TCEQ.

Although all TAB builder members may participate in this program, we strongly encourage you to take an individual storm water training course if you did not attend classroom training at your HBA. Please read “Frequently Asked Questions” to learn about training.
