Q: Why should I enter?
A: The Star Awards is the Southwest's premier building industry awards program. Winning (even being a finalist) sets you apart as one of the best in a particular category. When you win one of these awards, you have concrete, objective, third-party affirmation that you can present to a potential client.
Q: I'm just across the border in Oklahoma. Can I enter?
A: Yes! The Star Awards accepts entries from the entire Southwest, including Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. All members in good standing with their NAHB-affiliated association may enter the Star Awards.
Q: Where do I get an entry form?
A: You can download a Call for Entries package from www.texasbuilders.org. Or just click here.
Q: I have last year's call for entries. Do I need to get an updated copy?
A: YES! Based on last year's awards entries, certain categories have been combined, resulting in a new numbering system. Also, please double check to make sure you are entering the correct category.
Q: How many categories can I enter?
A: There is no limit to the number of categories you may enter or the number of entries per category.
Q: I printed the entry forms, but I don't see any lines where I should write my information...
A: The awards entry package was developed using forms in Microsoft Word so that you can save multiple copies of the download to your computer and fill out the form on the computer. All you have to do is click in the form field (the grey box) and start typing. When you are done, print out your forms and send them in!
Q: Will I get my entry back?
A: If you are planning to enter other awards programs, please make sure that you have a back up copy. Submitted materials will NOT be returned.
Q: How important are the photo requirements?
A: Very important. We need print quality photographs of your project. Project photographs of winning entries will be printed in the Jan./Feb. issue of Texas Builder magazine.
Q: When are the 2009 deadlines?
A: Friday, May 15, 2009, 5 p.m. : Standard Deadline. Entries received by this date are $125 per entry.
