For the convenience of its members, the Texas Association of Builders is pleased to offer a variety of online training classes.

Command Spanish® e-Training for Construction Supervisors 

Command Spanish® online courses are now available to TAB members.  These e-Training programs are designed to be an efficient, effective and reliable way to learn occupational Spanish.  For more information, click here.

 

"SWPPP It Or Sweat It" Online Storm Water Training Course  

TAB and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) have partnered to offer an online version of TAB’s award-winning “Storm Water SWPPP It or Sweat It” training course to you.  Click here to read the press release.  The “SWPPP It or Sweat It” training course provides a basic understanding of storm water management and the common tasks necessary to manage runoff from construction sites for contractors.  Register for the course at www.ieca.org/tab.  Once a TAB member has completed the one hour long course, they are eligible to participate in TAB’s Storm Water Self-Certification Sticker Program.  Learn about the sticker program here.

 

Green Building Training in Partnership with the Green Building Initiative®

This online training course features eight independent modules that were developed based on the areas of assessment within the NAHB National Green Building Standards.  In addition to the training modules, the site also contains a basic building overview course titled "Construction 101” which provides a detailed introduction to the principles of green building and a “Best Green Building Practices” section, with 25 short videos on different green building techniques.  The “Resources” section features green building case studies, PowerPoint presentations and other green resources.

Beyond Codes: Building Science Technology Workshop

This free course, brought to you by the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) and taught by building scientist Steve Easley, focuses not only on building code compliance, but provides information on the latest building science technology for residential construction that could result in up to a 40% decrease in energy usage.
 
Home buyers are asking for more energy-efficient and “greener” homes. This workshop takes a practical approach to building high-performance homes, and focuses on techniques for designing & building homes that are energy efficient, durable & comfortable. Easley draws from his 25 years experience in home building and has analyzed the most cost effective construction methods and building products that not only comply with the minimum requirements of the energy code, but will produce a home that exceeds these standards.
